Transformations

Before & After

Representative comparisons of the condition we're usually called to and what the finished work achieves. Drag the handle across each frame.

Driveway replacement

A driveway poured at three and a half inches on uncompacted native soil, cracked through in three places and settling toward the garage. Replacement went in at five inches over six inches of compacted Class 2 base, with rebar chaired into the slab and the fall reversed away from the house.

  • Water now runs to the street instead of the garage slab
  • Thickness and reinforcement rated for two modern vehicles
  • Control joints cut on a grid, so future movement is directed

Patio rebuild

A north-facing patio that stayed damp year round, growing moss in the joints and holding water against the house wall. Rebuilt with fall built into the slab, a wider footprint, and a sealed decorative finish that sheds water instead of holding it.

  • Positive fall away from the building, no standing water
  • Sealed surface that resists moss and organic staining
  • Footprint extended to take a full outdoor dining setting

Multi-tenant retail site

Commercial lot & drive aisle

A lot originally designed for cars that had spent a decade taking delivery trucks, with fatigue cracking through the drive aisle and ponding at the low end. Rebuilt the truck route in six-inch reinforced concrete and regraded the whole surface to drain.

  • Truck route rebuilt to carry the loads it actually sees
  • Surface regraded — no ponding after heavy rain
  • Work phased overnight so tenants kept trading

Industrial floor slab

A worn warehouse slab with spalled joints that were shaking forklifts apart and a surface too dusty to keep clean. Joints were rebuilt with armoured edges, the slab ground flat, then densified and polished.

  • Armoured joints that stop edge spalling under wheel loads
  • Flatness restored to specification across the racking aisles
  • Densified surface — no more slab dust in the operation

Surface Options

The Finishes Behind These Projects

Photographs flatten texture, so here's what each finish actually is — and what it's for.

Broom finish

A soft-bristled broom is dragged across the surface as it stiffens, leaving fine parallel ridges.

Best for Driveways, walkways, any sloped or wet-prone surface

Stamped

Textured mats are pressed into the plastic concrete to cast a stone, slate, or plank pattern.

Best for Patios, pool decks, feature entries

Exposed aggregate

The top paste is washed off before it sets, revealing the stone in the mix.

Best for Driveways, pool surrounds, high-traffic paths

Steel trowel

Repeated trowelling closes the surface to a hard, dense, near-polished plane.

Best for Garages, interior slabs, covered patios

Rock salt

Coarse salt is broadcast onto the fresh surface and washed out, leaving a shallow pitted texture.

Best for Pool decks and patios in warm, dry positions

Polished

The cured slab is ground with progressively finer diamond tooling, then densified and sealed.

Best for Showrooms, warehouses, interior commercial floors
