Dueling Trowels Concrete Solutions is a licensed and insured concrete contractor based in San Jose, California. Since 2005 we have built driveways, patios, foundations, and commercial flatwork across 29 cities in Santa Clara and Alameda counties. Every project starts with a free on-site assessment and a written scope stating slab thickness, mix strength, reinforcement, and base depth.

Who We Are
Twenty Years on the Same Two Counties
Dueling Trowels Concrete Solutions is a licensed and insured concrete contractor based in San Jose, California. We have been pouring and finishing concrete across Santa Clara and Alameda counties since 2005 — driveways, patios, and decorative work for homeowners, and parking lots, industrial floors, and structural slabs for businesses.
We are deliberately a local contractor rather than a regional one. Twenty-nine cities is the area we can reach, assess properly, and come back to if something needs attention. Working the same ground for two decades means we already know how the clay behaves in the valley, how each city's permitting runs, and which failures show up in which neighbourhoods.
That focus is also why we turn work down. If a job needs a structural engineer before anyone pours, we say so. If a repair solves a problem that someone else quoted as a replacement, we say that too.

How We Actually Work
The same sequence on every job, residential or commercial. It's the part of the business we're most willing to be judged on.
We look before we quote
Every estimate follows an on-site assessment. Base condition, drainage, access, soil, and existing damage all change the price, and none of them can be judged from photographs. Quotes given over the phone are guesses, and guesses get revised upward once work starts.
We specify in writing
Slab thickness in inches, mix strength in PSI, reinforcement size and spacing, base depth, joint layout, and finish. If it isn't written down it isn't agreed, and you can hold us to every line of it.
We build the part nobody sees
Demolition, sub-base graded to fall and compacted in lifts, forms set, steel tied and chaired into the slab's middle third. This stage decides whether the concrete lasts thirty years or six, and it's where cheaper quotes save their money.
We cure it properly
Concrete gains strength through a chemical reaction that needs water. Slabs are protected and kept damp rather than left to dry in the sun, and joints are cut on schedule rather than whenever someone gets back to site.
We finish and hand over
Debris hauled, forms pulled, surrounds cleaned. Then a walkthrough, and clear guidance on when the slab can take foot traffic, vehicles, and heavy loads.
What We Stand Behind
Our Commitments, in Writing
These are the terms in our estimates, not marketing lines. They are what you can hold us to after the crew has left.
Licensed & Fully Insured
General liability and workers' compensation on every job, so work happening on your property never becomes your exposure. Certificates available on request before we start.
Written Workmanship Warranty
If something isn't right because of how we built it, we come back and put it right. No argument about whose problem it is.
Free Written Estimates
On-site assessment, itemised scope, fixed price, no obligation. You will never get a verbal number from us that drifts upward mid-project.
Two Decades, Locally Owned
Owner-operated since 2005, working the same two counties the entire time. The person who quotes your job is accountable for it.
Site Safety Programme
Trained crews, protected work zones, and maintained accessible routes — which matters as much on a residential driveway as on a live commercial site.
Site Left Clean
Debris hauled away, forms removed, surrounds swept and washed down. A job isn't finished until the area looks like we were never there.
Standards
The Specifications We Quote To
No mystery mixes and no substitutions on site. These are our defaults; the exact figures for your job are written into your estimate.

3,000–4,500 PSI
Ready-mix concrete
3,000 PSI for patios and walkways, 4,000 for driveways and commercial flatwork, 4,500 where load or exposure justifies it. Batch tickets available on request.

#3–#5 rebar
Reinforcing steel
Deformed bar tied in a grid and chaired into the middle third of the slab, where it can resist tension. Never laid on the base and pulled up during the pour.

Class 2, 4–6"
Aggregate base
Crushed rock placed and compacted in lifts to 90–95%, graded to fall so water moves instead of collecting under the slab.

Penetrating silane
Sealers & densifiers
Penetrating sealers on decorative and exposed work, lithium densifiers on polished interior floors. Both protect from within rather than forming a film that peels.

Where We Work
29 Cities, Two Counties
We cover 29 cities across Santa Clara County and Alameda County — from Palo Alto and San Jose through Oakland and Berkeley, out to Livermore, and south to Gilroy.
Each city has its own page covering the housing stock, ground conditions, and the concrete problems that show up disproportionately there. It's genuinely local detail, because a hillside driveway in Piedmont and a flat lot in Dublin are not the same job.
